I’f like to get a brief description of these following classes: Easter Cookie Bouquet, Fondant Fashion Hat, Fondant Baby Shoes, Fondant 1, and Mom and Me Spaghetti Class. I have been in your store several times and I just love it there. I have a supply store nearby, but drive the distance to come to your store. I purchased a cake decorating turntable…..it is fantastic!
I am making cupcakes and have two questions.
1. What is the best way to store cupcakes? I am baking them 1 day ahead.
2. I have a good recipe for frosting (half butter / half shortening), but I need to add something for high humidity. Is it the ready whip that keeps it from melting? If I cut back a little on the butter, will that help?
Hi
Baking cupcakes 1 day in advance is ideal.
Store unfrosted cupcakes at room temperature in plastic cupcake holders which are airtight, leave the lid slightly open so the cupcakes will not get sticky or they will be difficult to frost. Keep cupcakes away from sunlight and light bulbs, cool dry area is best.
Refrigerate frosted cupcakes in airtight containers. Will keep 3-4 days before the taste is compromised.
In response to your frosting, the less butter used is better for high humidity. I would like to share Sarah’s recipe for High-Humidity Buttercream, I hope it will help you.
HIGH-HUMIDITY BUTTERCREAM
Cream together the following ingredients and whip until light.
2 cups Sweetex (Sarah’s)
1 tsp. Salt
3/4 tsp. Butter Flavor
3 Tbsp. Dream Whip
1 Tbsp. Almond Flavor
1 Tbsp. Vanilla
ADD: 1 lb. Powdered Sugar and 1/4 cup water, whip. Add another box of Powdered Sugar and 1/4 cup water. Whip until light, then cream on low speed until very smooth.
Good Luck! Jo @ Sarah’s
Hi,
Please let me know!
I was wondering if you offer the edible picture services? I have a picture I would love transferred on a cake
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
Yes, we do the edible images on icing paper. If not busy we can do it on the spot, otherwise we need a 24 hour turnover. Try to do the picture as close to the event as possible. The cost is $10.00 for a approximate size up to 7 by 10 inches. Our associates are excellent in customizing your picture. Looking forward to seeing you at Sarah’s.
Jo @ Sarah’s
is your white chocolate peanut free?
Hi Suzanne,
We carry Merckens white coating chocolate. Merckens white chocolate is gluten-free, wheat free and peanut/tree nut free. Merckens is manufactured on a nut-free product line. The chocolate is purchased from a local distributor who segregates the nut-free chocolate from any peanut/nut containing products.
Ingredients: Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Palm Kernel and Cottonseed Oils, Nonfat Dry Milk, Milk, Glyceryl Lacto Esters of Fatty Acids, Soy Lecithin added as an Emulsifier, Salt and Artificial Flavoring Added.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.
My 10 1/2 year old daughter and I are possibly interested in the beginner cake decorating class. She is mature for 10 1/2, loves to cook and bake, and is very artistic. Would this class be appropriate? Thank you.
Jennifer: I see no problem with your daughter taking the beginner cake class. The beginner cake decorating class is for people that have no knowledge of cake decorating and want to learn. I’m sure you and your daughter will have a fun learning experience.
I will be making candy (chocolate etc) for the holiday (Christmas) to give away. I will be making a large quantity. How long with it stay fresh? How do you store it? Air tight containers?
For best results store your chocolate in a cool, dry place between 60-68 degrees F. We do not recommend refrigerator or freezer because condensation (moisture) will cause coating to thicken, the cold may also compromise the taste of your chocolate. Coatings should be kept sealed in air tight containers and should last approximately 12-18 months from purchase. Best of luck with your Christmas chocolate gifts. Please visit the store we have a lot of Christmas ideas to share.
I am looking for cinnamon baking chips. Do you sell them? I see that Hershey’s makes a bag but I don’t know where to find them. I thought of you guys and hoped that maybe you sold something similar.

Be sure to call, as we sell them quickly. We also carry a full line of accessories, candles, icing decorations, toppers, baking cups, treat bags and fun pixs, even the cake pan for Mickey. My pound cake keeps sticking to the pan. I greased my pan with a cake release. I don’t know why. I need your help!!!!
After baking a pound cake in the oven, there may be a struggle to remove the cake from the pan, even with the aid of cake release. You could use softened butter or cake release(once again) and spread around the inside of your pan, thoroughly but lightly. Use your fingers or a piece of paper towel to reach all the nooks and crannies of the pan. Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of flour to the pan and shake it around the entire surface of the pan and shake out any excess. When your cake comes out of the oven let it sit for 10 – 15 minute to cool, then run a blade of a butter knife around the edges if it looks like it is sticking. Gently and slowly wiggle the pan up and away from the cake. It should come out nicely.
WARNINGS:
Do not shake the pan upside down
Make sure your cake is fully cooked, if not it will be more difficult to remove from pan
Cooled in pan too long
Best of Luck, Hope this helps!

hi! do you sell fondant plunger cutter?
Thank you for inquiring about fondant plunger cutters. Sarah’s has a good selection of plungers from Fox Run, Ateco and PME. We carry anything from leaves, blossoms or snowflakes, and if we don’t have it in stock we will do our best to order it for you.
This place has everything I’ve ever needed for cakes and cookies and candy. They have cutters, candy molds, and more flavorings than I could have imagined. My favorite thing they sell are the individual tips, I went to 2 other craft stores to buy a specific petal tip and both only sold the left handed version, i didnt know this until after i purchased it and tried to use it and then couldnt take it back. I can’t wait for my next cake project so I can visit again.
Do you have any edible decorations for cake pops after iced – anything black or white or music related?? Thanks.
Thank you for inquiring, we carry black sugar musical notes (16 for $2.69) that are the perfect size for a cake pop. Please call first to be sure they are in stock. Another idea, use a black candy writer and make a music note and sprinkle with black edible glitter. You can always drizzle with white chocolate and glitter with mystical dust. We also carry black or white candy beads. Best of luck with your project.
Caramel Corn (Microwave)
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup white corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 stick (4 oz.) margarine or butter (I use butter)
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 to 4 quarts of popped corn (I use microwave kind)
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine all ingredients except soda and popped corn in a 1 1/2 to 2 quart microwave safe bowl. Put in microwave (high) and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from microwave and stir in soda. Put the popped corn in a brown grocery bag and pour the syrup over the corn. Close the bag by rolling it down a couple times and SHAKE HARD. Cook in the bag on HIGH microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove and shake vigorously and cook in the microwave another 1 minute. Shake when you remove it from the microwave and pour it on a large cookie sheet to cool. Store in an airtight container when cool.
9 batchs = 42 (2 cup) packaged bags
each batch = 4 qt. caramel corn
I make this and bag it in your bags with ribbon as goodie bags for wedding hotel guests. Along with pretzel rods dipped and chocolate oreos . This is the best caramel corn I have ever tasted from home. I love caramel corn! Enjoy!
Thank you so much for the recipe, it is very sweet of you! It sounds fantastic, can’t wait to try. I’ll leave on the web so we also can share with our readers. I know we will enjoy.
