PROFESSIONAL READY MADE CAKE ICINGS 

          You may not have the luxury of time to make your family’s favorite icing from scratch.  Perhaps you are only familiar with those sticky cans of icing that are too sweet and difficult to spread.  There are many good reasons to try the professional quality cake icings at Sarah’s.


SPREAD-N-GLOSS

          Spread-N-Gloss is a velvety smooth dark chocolate icing that is so rich that it can serve as the ganache  center in chocolate truffles.  It spreads smoothly with ease.  The wonder of Spread-N-Gloss is that it can be melted in the microwave and poured onto cakes.  Poured Spread-N-Gloss cools to a smooth, glossy finish that is firm enough to stack if carrying cupcakes.  When melted it should pour at the consistency of cake batter as shown on Sarah’s Quick and Easy Sweets. 


 RICH’S CHOCOLATE AND VANILLA BETTERCREAM

          If you have ever used Cool Whip, then you’re already familiar with Rich’s high quality standards.  At Sarah’s you can find Rich’s Vanilla Bettercream and Rich’s Chocolate Bettercream Icings.  They are whipped buttercream  icings.  They are creamier than a whipped cream icing and fluffier and less sweet than a traditional buttercream.  They can be colored and flavored.  They can be flawlessly smoothed with very little effort.  Unlike whipped cream icings cakes decorated with Bettercream do not need to be refrigerated.  One carton of Bettercream will cover and boarder a single layer ½ sheet cake.

 Fun Suggestions For Rich’s Bettercream 

BUMPLESS BUMPY CAKE

( as seen on Sarah’s Quick and Easy Sweets)

1. Cool any cake (or brownies) that compliments chocolate icing.

2. Shake cold Bettercream and whip to soft peaks as directed on carton.

3. Completely cover with whipped Bettercream.

4. Melt Spread-N-Gloss poured chocolate icing (see Spread-N-Gloss).

5. Pour in the center and spread quickly and gently in all directions and let it flow down the sides to completely cover the Bettercream.  One pound will cover a double 8 inch cake.


RICH’S CREAM CHEESE ICING

     This smooth and creamy icing rivals the best made by professionals.  Nothing from a can compares to its’ light texture for ease in smooth spreading.  Its’ taste is rich and full bodied without that sticky, greasy taste found in so many canned icings.

 If you are too busy to make the perfect cream cheese icing for your Red Velvet, Carrot, Pumpkin or other Spicy cake, Rich’s professional quality Cream Cheese Icing is the perfect solution.

Fun Suggestion For Rich’s Cream Cheese Icing

1.    Cool and brush crumbs or crumb coat (see Basic Cake Decorating) two 8 inch layers of  Red Velvet or a spicy or fruity tasting cake.

2.    Using either tips # 12 or 22 pipe a ring around the top of the bottom layer.  This will create a wall that will retain cake filling when the top layer is put into place.  

3.    Snip the end of a plastic sleeve of Henry and Henry professional quality Cream Cheese Pastry Filling and squeeze the bag to completely fill the inside of the retaining wall.

4.    Place the top layer gently over the icing wall.

5.    Heat a bent angled spatula in running hot tap water and flick off the excess water.  The heated spatula helps room temperature icing spread more smoothly.

6.    One pound of Rich’s Cream Cheese Icing will cover the top and sides of a filled 8 inch double layer cake.

 


RICH’S RED COLORED BUTTER CREAM ICING

          A bright good tasting bright red colored icing is often frustrating to make.  ( see Using Professional Food Colors)  Wilton makes a bright red icing in a tube that is great for writing and accents.  If you need more than a tube of red and don’t have the time or patience to make the icing yourself, Rich’s makes a butter cream that is consistently the same shade of bright red.  Some red food dyes tend leave a bitter taste in the icing.  Rich’s Red Butter Cream is sweet and creamy.  Its’ texture is so light that it glides through decorating tips.  The taste, color and consistency is perfect for decorating Elmo Cakes.  You’ll be proud when red stained smiles show how much your icing was enjoyed. 

CK BUTTER CREAM ICING

          The butter cream icing made by Country Kitchen is the traditional very sweet, granular type of icing that is used by professionals on Wedding Cakes.  It has that traditional creamed butter and granulated sugar taste and consistency but is a pure white in color.  Although it is more dense than our other butter creams, it pipes through tips quite easily and holds their shapes very well.  CK Butter Cream Icing reliably with professional grade food colors.
